South Coast Workshop
Iceland’s south coast is a geologically diverse region boasting serene green farmlands and moss covered lava fields with sweeping impressive glaciers, along with Iceland's largest continuous black sand beach. Sparsely inhabited, this region is dominated by few large glaciers and many river systems. This is a paradise for photographers and drone photgraphers, as they can encounter nature's texture. patterns and colors plus the ever changing weather that will surprise even the most seasoned photographer.
Day 1: Waterfalls, countryside and black sand coast
We leave the city of Reykjavík and drive through one of Iceland´s main agricultural areas. Walk behind impressive waterfall and travel through the farming area beneath the Eyjafjallajökull volcano that erupted in april 2010. Explore cap Dyrhólaey where we will see and experience black sand coast that stretches along the whole south coast of Iceland.

Day 2: South coast and Eldhraun
Visit the small village of Vík in Mýrdal and visit a local museum that tells us the story of the Katla volcano, which is beneath Mýrdalsjökull glacier and learn about the many shipwrecks on the nearby sandy beaches. Visit Eldhraun, an extensive lava field created in 1783 by a huge eruption from the Laki craters. The landscape is wide and from afar we may be able to glimpse at glaciers and Iceland's biggest mountain Mt. Öræfajökull volcano, which we will see the next day. We visit the majestic Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon created by a glacier river that has shaped the soft palagonite stone.

Day 3: Vatnajökull National Park – glaciers and sea cliffs
Today we visit Europe´s largest glacier – Vatnajökull. We cross vast sand expanse created by the powerful glacier rivers and enter the Vatnajökull National Park. Light hike to explore one of the parks many glacier tongues and vistas. After dinner we head out towards Cap Ingólfshöfði which protrudes into the ocean with its dramatic sea cliffs and diverse birdlife.

Day 4: Vatnajökull National Park – glacier lagoons
We walk around and take a boat ride on glacier lagoons, taking in the many forms of the icebergs up close. Afterwards we learn about the local history of Sudursveit (South farming) community which up till 1974 was the most isolated farming community in Iceland cut off by strong glacier rivers to it's west and east Here both the landscape and the isolated farm houses will give us plenty of good photo opportunities.

Day 5: Vatnajökull National Park – The world of the glacier and Höfn fishing village
We head up into the mountains towards the very edge of Vatnajökull glacier. At 840 m / 2500 feet above sea level we experience the glacier world and enjoy the views. Afterwards head towards Hoffelsjökul – a glacier tongue and lagoon and take our time experiencing it's raw glacial landscape. Dinner and overnight at the small fishing village of Höfn - our final destination – a thriving modern fishing village.

Day 6: Flight back to Reykjavík
After breakfast, we explore nearby peninsula and after local lunch fly from Höfn to Reykjavík getting an aerial view of our journey. After a less than an hour flight we arrive back in Reykjavik domestic airport and check into your Reykjavík hotel. Evening goodbye group dinner.

Payment Schedule
Payments are made in two installments. A deposit of $1500.00 must be made within 2 weeks of registration. The balance is due 60 days prior to the departure date.
